The Czech Social Science Data Archive (CSDA) has been cooperating with the Ukraine National Data Bank of Sociological Data "Kyiv Archive" for more than a decade, supporting the development of social science data archiving and data services in Ukraine. This collaboration has included mentoring activities, professional exchange, and joint efforts to align the archive's practices with international standards for research data management and preservation.
In 2023, CSDA contributed to a CESSDA-supported capacity-building initiative for the Kyiv Archive through an in-kind contribution. The project focused on strengthening the archive's operational capacity, consulting on data management and archiving procedures, developing long-term backup solutions, and preparing thematic data collections and metadata in English for international dissemination. As a result, several thematic collections of Ukrainian social science data were published through the CSDA Dataverse repository, and their metadata are now harvested by the CESSDA Data Catalogue, increasing the international visibility and accessibility of Ukrainian research data.
CSDA is currently supporting the Kyiv Archive in the preparation of its application for inclusion in the Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Ukraine under RIFF - Research Infrastructures for the Future of Ukraine.
In the endorsement letter published below, CESSDA recognizes the Kyiv Archive as an important national infrastructure for the preservation, curation, and dissemination of social science research data in Ukraine and highlights its long-standing cooperation with the CESSDA community and its potential for further integration into the European research infrastructure landscape.
